Deck repair and staining
Not every deck needs to come down. A wash and stain runs $3.8 to $4.4/sf, and loose boards, wobbly rails, rotted posts and tired stairs are fixed by the hour. When the frame is past saving, we price a rebuild.
Typical totals
- Stain a 300 sf deck with 40 ft of railing and one set of stairs: $1,655 to $1,915
- Repairs: loose boards, a wobbly rail and a rotted post (about six hours): $600 to $600

Questions
Should I repair or rebuild?
If the footings, ledger and frame are sound, repairs and a fresh stain save a lot. If the ledger is not flashed or footings are shallow, a rebuild is the safe call. We show you what we find.
How often should a wood deck be stained?
Every two to three years on the Front Range. Sun is hard on decks here.
